| A small town, by Earth standards, and yet Xanadu Town, swelled to 6500 inhabitants because of emergency resettling before the Pass arrives, is the urban center of our alternate timeline Second Pass Pern. Personal dramas play out against the backdrop of societal change, with petty crime on the rise, but many would argue that the Council's effective disenfranchisement of hundreds of people is the larger crime. That the Pass is coming can hardly be denied, with clutches rising and volcanoes rocking - but will Pern be united and ready to meet it?
Second Pass MUSH focuses on excellent RP and deep intercharacter relationships taking place on a game with an experienced, drama-free staff and a friendly atmosphere. We welcome a range of players, from light once-a-month sceners to heavy everyday plotters, and have room IC for various character concepts including craftspeople, students, teachers, and dragonriders. | It's Year 253 After Landing. In the years since Mount Garben forced the evacuation of Landing, the Pern colony has prospered. There are settlements across much of the Southern Continent, and life in the major holds is easy - for now. With Thread due to return in five years' time, there are fears that the dragons will be unable to protect so much land, and a massive effort is underway to Threadproof hundreds of dwellings that were built without thought for the future. The first settlers' technology, though carefully preserved, is failing, but secrets still lie in the computer files....
Second Pass MUSH is a new Pern game that explores an alternate history in which the colonists found a new home in the South when the volcano erupted. Our setting is Xanadu Town, administrative capital of Pern and home to the central College - a place where dragonriders live alongside townsfolk, students come from across the continent, and the struggles that come with change are played out.
Second Pass has opportunities for characters of all sorts - dragonriders, students, professionals and crafters, and many other townsfolk. We aim to be a plot-focused game that will allow in-depth exploration of characters and of the game's themes - a world in transition, facing a threat to survival along with the loss of technology and social change.

| A chill brought in by the North wind stirs the morning fog. Summer is short lived in the mountainous regions of Fort and frost is known to appear early; hinting at the change of season soon to grip the Weyr.
In spite of the signs of summer growing old, there is much to do at the aging Weyr, where traditions are mired heavy into the stone. Yet, the place isn't shackled completely in traditions, with its young Weyrwoman having increased modern services to extend to rooms and caverns throughout the Weyr. The recent failure of the plumbing seemed to have been a pivotal point in the future of the Weyr. If it's not updated, likely the populace would soon seek solace in other Weyrs better capable of giving the residents a more luxurious lifestyle.
With this in mind, riders are being worked harder and longer. Funds are being drained from the surplus of previous Turns, with progress slowly taking hold. A noticeable ruckus is thereby caused when things start to go missing!! No one wants to hear rumours of looting from the supply trains and ships during this crucial period. Even worse, rumours of thieving riders!Alas, for the most part, these /wild/ rumours are overwhelmed by the promise of Winter Games to be hosted at home advantage with the friendly rival Weyr, Ista. Fort awaits the retaliation from Ista, for it's previous prank stunting tactics over the island Weyr. Pride's at stake after all.
Fort has it all: missing weyrwomen, mysterious tunnels reopened, new advances in technology, Summer and Winter Games with Ista, intrigue and adventure. The only thing missing is... a hatching.
OOC: Pernworld, Fort Weyr is a relaxed atmosphere for Rp. Although we're small, we try to offer those who play some variety, from random event challenges to plots with other Weyrs, to in house plots and events. We'll be heading into our Search Cycle in October and encourage anyone who is thinking about applying to join us now. It's very probable that we'll be having a gold in this clutch, therefore we are offering temporary staff positions so that potential applicants can get a better understanding of our area before diving right into search.

| High Reaches Weyr is on the mend...
Turns of bad luck have brought this northern-most Weyr to the brink of ruin. Caught in limbo--their previous Senior murdered, their current Senior not yet risen in maiden flight, their Weyrleader lost in the throes of grief, and the shady dealing of what seems to be a hastily transferred junior with weyrlings in the barracks--the Holders and Crafters beholden to High Reaches have called a conclave, questioning the Weyr's ability to stand on its own.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel! Despite visible conflict between the Senior goldrider and her equally young junior, they are both healthy, in mind and body. There are weyrlings in the barracks! And the Senior gold has begun to show signs of imminent flight, promising a new Weyrleader and a new generation of dragonriders.

| High Reaches just can't catch a break. First it was their frigid Weyrwoman, killing herself just to get away from her ex-con Weyrleader and their adopted junior. Then the Weyrleader ran off crying to his mother's skirts and hasn't been seen in months. Now, bitchy Telgar reject Tiriana is leading things with the help of her predecessor's flipskirt teenage headwoman and a baby-faced Weyrleader who just hit puberty last week. Will they be able to fend off the nefarious plottings of Crom? Or will the northern Weyr and its suddenly teenage leadership succumb to the lecherous ways of Nabol's Lord, now on wife number four? | Four turns ago, Keroon was destroyed by a hurricane. Left homeless by the storm, refugees headed for nearby Ista with little more than the clothes on their backs. Many made the long trek to Tillek, even. Master Sea Hold had mysteriously fallen out of communication with the rest of Pern, only to be found with a giant barricade up - the storm winds keeping both human and dragon from tending to them. A plague ravaged Master Sea Hold's populace, most notably taking the life of Lady Risana of Ista Hold.
But what of Herder Hall? The main hall is - or rather, /was/ - stationed in Keroon. A minor Hall on the outskirts of High Reaches opened their arms to the displaced Herders and many smarter masters moved their important stock before the hurricane hit the coast, but the storm was devastating. Many animals were lost, the craft's livelihood left in shambles.
Four turns of rebuilding, Herder had been doing fairly well for itself despite the climate change... until a fire ravaged it's apprentice dorms, killing all but a few of their apprentices. Seeming like a ghost-hall, the craft is useless without students and apprentices to teach, so after throwing all of their effort into rebuilding what the fire destroyed, Herder's masters and journeymen will soon be making their rounds to collect apprentices to keep it's legacy going.

| Life in the High Reaches region has remained mostly quiet as of late, save for the departure of their recently new Weyrleader for a more southern climate and the subsequent handing over of his knot to a younger rider from Ierne. Although it's yet early in winter, several avalanches have already occurred in the northern ranges, keeping the Weyr's search and rescue wing on its toes. Some of the outlying cotholds have been damaged beyond repair, possessions and people alike lost to the ravages of what promises to be a particularly difficult winter. Refugees have been escorted wherever they wish to go; some have made a new home in one of the minor holds, while others moved on to a major hold. Some, who claim family at the Weyr, have traveled there for protection for the time being.
While the Weyr works to deal with the influx of new people from all over the region, their senior queen recently rose in less than ideal weather conditions and was caught by bronze Aslianth, effectively confirming their previously acting Weyrleader as their new one. With eggs on the way in the coming months, anticipation is high for more positive news in the wake of the worsening winter.
High Reaches Weyr is one of many Weyrs on PernWorld MUSH that has a small, but friendly playerbase. On our Pern, Thread is a thing of the far past; the technology provided from AIVAS has become a thing of the present. Dragonriders have taken up occupations in wings oriented more for search and rescue or policing rather than fighting, and many also practice a craft as their duties allow.

| Now's the perfect time to start a new character at Pern's Legacy!
The new Caucus has just about weathered its first year, and things are looking bright. First its Gather was a smashing success, next two of its own - Sieren of Fort and Arali of Bitra - will be wed. Riding high on the interest it's gathered, the Caucus is opening its doors for potential students to move in and check out the place before the next school term.
But as the current turn winds down, debate fixes on the fate of South Telgar, the minor hold with major ambitions of becoming independent. In a few months, a Grand Conclave will convene at nearby Lemos Hold to settle the issue, but the outcome is not set in stone. Backroom deals are the name of the game - and since the Caucus encourages, even coerces, the Holds, Halls, and Weyrs to interact, many of those deals could take could take place right here.
